1. Rental Fee
Ans: NT400-600 (125 cc) per day, depends on what type of scooter you rent and how new it is. Basically, there is no big difference to rent a scooter during weekday & during serial holidays.
(Generally, insurance is excluded.)
Rental prices are calculated based on 24 hour rental periods, starting with the pickup date and time of the vehicle and ending with the returning date & time.

2. License Requirement

4. Where to rent a scooter?
(Please note not every shop provide rental service to foreigners & round-Taiwan travellers. It is suggested to check with rental shop before your trip.)
**The reason why most of rental stores don't provide rental service to overseas tourists is not related to discrimination but due to traffic fine system. If somebody disobeys traffic rules when riding rented vehicle, for example running the red lights, the notice of traffic fine will reach rental store after seven or more days. During this period, there is high possibility that foreign tourists have been back to their country and it's no choice for rental shop to cover the fine.

It depends on the rules of each rental shops. Generally, the late fee is NT50-100/hour. Please be aware that you may be required to pay a full day fee once over a limited hours (3-4 hours).

6. Procedures if an accident occurs
Please call 110 (emergency call for Taiwan police) and immediately inform rental shop what kind of difficulties you are having.

7. Passenger is allowed?
For 125 cc scooter, it is no problem to have one passenger (in Taiwan, we don't have any limit to this passenger for his/her age/height/with or without license)
But the renter must be the driver with license.

8. Is it easy to find a place to park a scooter?
In city like Taipei, not so easy. But at other places, it won't be a very difficult problem.
You can park your scooter within road's white line or at parking lot for scooter.

10. If can't speak/read Chinese, is it possible to do a round-Taiwan travel?

Surely it's no problem to travel around Taiwan even if you don't speak or read it.
In Taiwan, most of road signs are marked in Chinese & English and clear road number is installed at roadside.
Take below photo for example, the left photo shows how many kilograms you are away from destination (Guangfu / Fongbin / Hualien) and the right photo shows you are now at 74k of route No.193.
